I'm going to comment on this as someone who works in this industry. Only been in it for a year and a half and I work in IT. I work for a small processor that has nothing to do with kill houses. All the chicken we receive is either from Tyson or Pilgrim with a couple other outliers. We do what's called Flat pack and co pack and IQF. If you think you're avoiding Tyson by not buying Tyson, you're wrong. Tyson and Pilgrims are the largest out there. And they send their chicken to smaller companies just to remove the Tyson name. We pack for many large chain grocery and fast food restaurants. Needless to say it's just as bad at these plants. This entire industry is fucked. I've been looking for a new job pretty much since day one. Point of the comment is unless you're buying locally from someone you know, you're buying a Tyson/Pigrim chicken.

yes, but it is hard work, i hardly dream, but when i do they are surreal and not based in reality. i sometimes am excited but the long hours kinda get me down, had a fever today. i tell everyone facts, liek how walmart brand chicken, aldi brand, meier brand, and kroger brand all come from tyson as well, as well as mcdonalds chicken nuggets, and wendys chicken patties. no regrets on questions yet.

Trucker details repeated extreme delays at Tyson facilities
13 hour wait on a 'pre load' led to 17 hour wait to get unloaded. 19 hour delay on a pre-loaded in Goodlettsville, TN led to 9 hours deejay to get unloaded in Atlanta. This time 16 hours worth of re-works causes a 47 hour pushback at my reciever. That's just the most recent 3. I don't fault the receivers here. They have a schedule, i want there for my scheduled time, or had to rebook, they had ti fit me in when they could. But HATE tyson for it

I can only comment on how I've seen people treated in my own facility and not on the company as a whole. Everyone I've seen be injured has been taken seriously and treated fairly; no one denied it that clearly should have received it, I mean. People will always be taken to a doctor to be checked out if they report an injury and they say they think they need to be looked at or a manager/nurse thinks they should. You have to fill out a form when the injury happens so that there is documentation of it, even if it doesn't seem bad enough to go to a hospital. You can't wait to ascertain the seriousness of an injury to report it because then it can't be proved the injury happened on the job. I'm sure in the grand scheme of things, this creates issues with long time stressors like gradual back injuries and such not being compensated via worker's comp because there's no specific moment of injury to report.

Fatal accident at Tyson plant: worker electrocuted and no ambulance called
my mom works there and she said a young mechanic was electrocuted and fell into machinery that skins the cows or something along those lines? adding on: she told me there was no ambulances and everybody was dismissed earlier than usual for the day. the suspicion being that all they could do was turn off the machinery because there was nothing left to save.
